Star Wars: The Clone Wars is the first animated series from Lucasfilm Animation. The series chronicles the adventures of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Ahsoka Tano and other favorite Star Wars characters as they struggle against the dark side during the Clone Wars. Star Wars: The Clone Wars premiered on October 3, 2008 on Cartoon Network.
In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the Jedi fight to maintain freedom and restore peace to the galaxy, using their army of genetically engineered clones against the droid army. The conflict grows wider as our heroes are swept into the turmoil of war, while the evil Count Dooku, his assassin Asajj Ventress, their master Darth Sidious, the mechanical General Grievous and a rogue’s gallery of new villains scheme to defeat them.
The main characters of Star Wars: The Clone Wars are Anakin Skywalker (now a Jedi Master), his Padawan (apprentice) Ahsoka Tano, the veteran Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi, Master Yoda, the evil Count Dooku, his assassin Asajj Ventress, their master Darth Sidious, and the love-to-hate-him man-robot General Grievous.
Dave Filoni is supervising director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Filoni began his animation career working on King of the Hill, Mission Hill and The Oblongs. Filoni joined Lucasfilm Animation from another fantasy franchise, Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender. Catherine Winder is producer, having previously produced Aeon Flux on MTV. George Lucas is executive producer, and the creator and rule of the Star Wars-verse.
My Two Cents
Love or hate The Clone Wars movie, you need to watch the TV series. This series was crafted to tell stories much better in half-hour installments every week. The movie, as some have noticed, was really just a big advertisement for the series. I love the relationships between the characters, especially Ahsoka and Anakin. The action is inventive. And, c’mon, who doesn’t love hanging out in the Star Wars universe every week? Star Wars: The Clone Wars animation may be a bit stiff, but it is absolutely gorgeous to watch. Plus, I already have a crush on General Plo Koon. Yeah. Little bit.
